Normally I celebrate my birthday with a party. Having a May birthday meant that this year it was spent in quarantine. In order to still celebrate in some form, a couple of my close friends and I had a dress-up “party” recently. We were able to spent a couple nights in New Patlz, NY. It’s always great to get out of Long Island for a couple days – especially during a pandemic. Upstate New York had much more outdoor seating at restaurants, and activities like hiking or swimming, than we have on Long Island right now. We made up for the lack of people present with a fun dress-up “party” idea. We didn’t declare a specific theme. We simply decided that we would dress eccentric in our own ways.
I decided immediately that I needed to wear these incredible pink sparkly boots that I haven’t been able to sow off since COVID – 19 hit. From there I decided that I needed to incorporate animal print and hot pink into this look. I ended up with this:

Maybe it was all of the early seasons America’s Next Top Model I binge-watched in quarantine, but I was beyond excited to wear a 2000’s inspired outfit. To emphasize this 2000’s vibe, I found an old flip-phone that was in one of my family’s junk drawers. I believe it pulled the whole look together.

I ordered both these zebra pants and pink top from Pretty Little Thing – one of my favorite online stores. These bulky pink earrings are from Forever 21. The sparkly pink cowgirl boots (that I am obsessed with) are from DollsKill.

I fully believe that this dress-up party was a really great way to blow off some of the stress that quarantine has caused in all of us. It may seem silly to dress a little crazy and then feel genuinely better afterwards, but it worked for me. As someone that really cares about clothes, quarantine was very tiring for me. I am used to expressing myself through what I’m wearing. I love seeing the looks that other people put together, and drawing inspiration from them. I have really missed that over these last 6 months. This dress-up party relieved a lot of what I was feeling. I highly suggest you dress-up for no reason.
